In a recent video shared by Channels TV on YouTube, Adams Oshiomhole discussed the financial assistance provided by President Bola Tinubu to state governors. This revelation highlights the substantial support given to states in a bid to bolster their finances and address various challenges.
According to Oshiomhole, last month, President Tinubu allocated approximately 400 billion naira to state governments across Nigeria. This substantial distribution of funds is a significant increase compared to previous allocations, aimed at ensuring states have the necessary resources to function effectively.
Oshiomhole emphasized that no state received less than 10 billion naira, with some states receiving even more. This equal and substantial allocation underscores the federal government’s commitment to equitable financial support across the country.
He pointed out that the current governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, received 11.1 billion naira last month. This amount is notably higher than what was previously received, reflecting the increased financial support from the federal government.
In addition to the financial allocations, Oshiomhole mentioned that various grants were also provided to the states. The Ministry of Agriculture contributed by sending 20 trucks of rice to Edo State, further supporting the state’s needs and addressing food security concerns.
Oshiomhole contrasted this with his tenure as governor, where he received significantly less financial support. He stated that during his time, he was not receiving more than 3.2 billion naira, highlighting the considerable increase in funds being allocated under the current administration.
Hear him: “The president has given state governors this last month about 400 billion naira. No state collected less than 10 billion naira, some got more than 10 billion naira grant. When I was governor of Edo State, I was not getting more than 3.2 billion naira. Last month my governor (Obaseki) got 11.1 billion naira plus those grants. And ministry of agriculture sent 20 trucks of rice”….Seê _ Morê
