According to Punch, Policemen in Mowe, Ogun State, have allegedly demanded N300,000 from the relatives of Oluboboye Abiola, a pastor abducted from the Celestial Church of Christ Jehovah Shalom Parish, in order to arrest his kidnappers. Abiola was kidnapped on the night of March 28, during a holy communion service, alongside senior pastor Seyi Oladapo. The kidnappers were armed and masked.
According to Akeem Ajisafe, a church member, Oladapo managed to escape but was beaten by local vigilantes who mistook him for a thief. He was later recognized by the police in Mowe. Ajisafe said that the community paid vigilantes and Amotekun guards to search the surrounding bushes, and some people reported seeing Abiola unconscious with the kidnappers on a bike. Despite involving the police multiple times, they continued to ask for money.
The kidnappers made various ransom demands, initially requesting N5 million, and later asking for a cooler of rice and meat, packs of bottled water, and N1 million. Four months after the abduction, Salisu Aliyu, suspected to be one of the kidnappers, took over Abiola’s WhatsApp and TikTok accounts, editing his image and posting videos of himself on TikTok….Seê _ Morê
