Nigerian singer and songwriter, Aituaje Aina Vivian Ebele Iruobe, professionally known as Waje, has opened up about a past relationship that lasted six years, revealing that she ended it after confronting serious financial questions with her partner.
This was disclosed during an interview with JAY ON AIR podcast which surfaced online on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
She made the statement while reflecting on her early experiences with dating and how her understanding of relationships has evolved over time.
In the interview, Waje admitted that in her younger years, she didn’t approach dating with long-term intentions. She said she often got into relationships based on emotional connection without considering deeper compatibility or future goals.
According to Waje,
“Honestly, I didn’t know how to date. If I liked someone and we vibed, I would date. But in my younger years, I didn’t understand dating with a purpose. I asked myself, ‘If this person proposes to you, would you say yes?’ At a time I dated for a very long time. I was in a relationship for about six years. When we started asking ourselves those difficult questions especially from finances…that’s when I opted out.”
