In a recent statement, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has voiced his doubts about the government’s promises to repair the nation’s refineries as ongoing issues over subsidy removal, as reported by Punch.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Obasanjo expressed his concerns about the ongoing issues with the refineries and the repeated assurances given to the public.
Obasanjo questioned the frequency and sincerity of these promises.
He pointed out that despite numerous commitments to fix the refineries, the problems have not only continued but have also worsened over time.
He highlighted the repeated nature of these promises and the lack of tangible results.
The former president expressed frustration over the situation, stating that the government’s inability to address these issues has hindered progress.
He argued that as long as the fundamental problems with the refineries remain unsolved, the country cannot move forward effectively.
“How many times have they told us that? And at what price? Those problems, as far as the government refineries are concerned, have never gone away. They have even increased. So if you have a problem like that and that problem is not removed then you aren’t going anywhere,” he asked….Seê_Morê
