In a recent video shared by Channels TV, Uzokwe Ifeanyi, the House of Representatives member for the Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo federal constituency spoke about why the Igbo community has not participated in recent nationwide protests.
Ifeanyi said that the community has been grieving the loss of three significant figures: the Ohanaeze Ndigbo president, Iwuanyanwu; Senator Ifeanyi Uba; and the celebrated musician Onyeka Onwenu.
Uzokwe stated that the Igbo people are still in mourning over these losses and it would be difficult for the community to join in protests so soon after such a period of sorrow.
In Ifeanyi’s words: “How can we join the protest when we lost 3 illustrious children of Igbo? We lost Ohanaeze Ndigbo president Iwuanyanwu, we lost Senator Ifeanyi Uba, We lost Onyeka Onwenu and you are expecting us to come out from our mourning within two weeks to join the protest”….Seê _ Morê
