The governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defended the party’s performance, attributing current economic challenges to global issues rather than their governance. Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and governor of Imo State, said, “The truth is, the APC has done very well in Nigeria. What’s happening now is a global economic problem. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is implementing measures to address the economy he inherited, and I am confident that soon Nigerians will be happy with how he has managed the situation.”
According to Independent, Uzodinma highlighted the APC’s strong position ahead of the Edo election, noting the party’s control of 20 states and significant federal presence. “A party like APC, controlling 20 states out of 36 and having produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council, is the majority party,” he said. “When we get to Edo, the National Campaign Council will be inaugurated, and most of us from the Progressives Governors Forum will be there.”
The visit to the party secretariat was to show commitment to the party’s leadership and support for the chairman during a personal loss. National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje welcomed the visit, saying, “We are very happy they came.
