In a recent statement, Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has shared her thoughts on the planned nationwide protest over the hardship faced by Nigerians, as reported by The Sun.
In a recent social media post, the actress expressed her concerns about the effectiveness of the demonstration.
Dikeh suggested an alternative approach like forming a representative group to communicate directly with President Bola Tinubu.
She proposed that this group request a meeting to discuss the issues and propose potential solutions.
Dikeh acknowledged the frustrations of Nigerian youths regarding the country’s current economic state.
She highlighted the difficulties caused by price hikes and increased costs of living and commuting.
However, she questioned whether the planned protest, set for August 1-10, 2024, would be the most effective method of addressing these concerns.
Instead of a protest, Dikeh recommended a more strategic approach.
She suggested that a representative group could formally present the people’s grievances to the President.
This group would voice on behalf of the public, seeking a meeting to discuss the issues and suggest solutions.
She stated that meaningful dialogue and community development might lead to positive changes and unity.
Dikeh argued that addressing economic challenges through peaceful and diplomatic means could be more beneficial than protests.
“Dear fellow Nigerian youths, I understand your frustrations about our nation’s current state. The price hikes and economic pressures are tough, and many are struggling with the increased costs of commuting and living.“
“However, a nationwide protest from August 1-10, 2024, might not be the most effective method right now. This isn’t to undermine the power of protests but to suggest a more strategic approach.”
“Instead of protests, I recommend forming a representative group to formally communicate with the President. This group can advocate on our behalf, request a meeting to discuss our concerns and propose solutions.”
“Engaging in meaningful dialogue and community development can lead to positive change and unity.“
“The economic challenges affect us all, and addressing them through peaceful and diplomatic means could be more beneficial. Let’s unite and work towards a better Nigeria.”
“I urge you to consider alternative ways to make your voices heard and to work towards a brighter future,” she penned….Seē _ Morē
