In a video recently shared by AIT, the father of a 16-year-old boy who was killed by a soldier during a protest in Zaria responded to claims on social media that he was compensated by top army officers.
In the video, the bereaved father said that the money he received from top army officers who paid him a visit after the sad incident was not compensation for his son’s death. According to him, the 300,000 naira given to him was for his personal use, not as compensation. He stated that the army instructed him to use the money to buy basic items like pure water, making it clear that the money was not intended as compensation for the loss of his son. He denied the rumors that suggested the army had compensated him, stating that they were not true.
In his words: “It is not true. I was given 300,000 naira personally for myself, it is not compensation. He said I should use the money to buy pure water but not compensation. He did not compensate us, that rumour is not true”….Seē_Morē
