According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, the claims of Hamas targeting and killing multiple members of armed organisations in Gaza were downplayed by U.S. President Donald Trump, who said that the move “didn’t bother” him much.
At a joint news conference with President Javier Milei of Argentina, Trump said that Hamas had killed off what he called “a couple of very bad gangs,” but he did not specify which factions were involved. They did manage to dismantle two extremely criminal groups.
They did manage to eliminate them, along with some gang members, but I must admit that it didn’t really annoy me. “That’s fine with me,” Trump assured reporters. “Those are two incredibly dangerous gangs.”
His comments followed a day of significant hostage-prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, which resulted in the release of hundreds of Palestinian inmates from various locations in the Negev Desert and Israel’s Ofer military prison, as well as all twenty remaining Israeli captives.
Reuters cites Palestinian security sources who said that on Monday, an operation targeting a “dangerous gang affiliated with a local family” was initiated in Gaza City by Hamas security forces. The source added that the operation resulted in the deaths of 32 gang members and 6 Hamas security personnel.
In addition to the 24 individuals already apprehended, another 30 were injured. Prominent Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi was allegedly shot dead in Gaza City by gangs supporting Israel, leading to the security operation.
While reporting on the devastation in Gaza’s Sabra neighbourhood following Israeli force withdrawal, reports surfaced from The New Arab and Quds News Network claiming that Aljafarawi was beheaded by armed collaborators backed by Israel. Claiming to have been cornered, he was shot seven times.
The murder of Aljafarawi was denounced by the Gaza Government Media Office as “a direct result of Israel’s policy of targeting Palestinian journalists through both air strikes and proxy militias.” They went on to describe it as an assault on press freedom and a progression of Israel’s effort to censor Palestinian voices.
Concerned about potential instability following the recent ceasefire, the Interior Ministry of Gaza has ramped up security deployments throughout the territory in an effort to quell looting and restore order.
The steps were deemed essential to “fill the security vacuum” that had been created by Israel’s withdrawal, according to officials.
The United States, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt were the co-brothers in President Trump’s plan to end the fighting in Gaza, which he revealed earlier on Tuesday.
In the following phase of the deal, a new Gazan government will be formed, a multinational security force would be formed, and Hamas will be fully disarmed.
Trump stated that he had confidence in Hamas’s ability to comply with the disarming requirement after speaking with their leadership. “Their armies will disarm,” Trump announced. “And we will swiftly—and maybe violently—disarm them if they do not.”
